2 Year Portrait | St. Augustine Photographer
A week or two ago, I wrote about Rich and I celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary. In case you missed it, you can check it out here. Last year, we went on my dream trip to Los Angeles. We had such a blast, but this year we decided to save some money and stay close to home. We will be going to Universal Studios to use our passes later this month. In the mean time, every year we take a picture of ourselves on our anniversary. My parents did this and it is really cool to see them throughout the years. This was our picture last year.
This year we have a friend living with us. Kayla needed a place to crash for a few months, so naturally we let her stay in our spare bedroom. We wanted to document this in our yearly photo. We also wanted to capture the fact that this was the year we officially officially, started Danielle Brooks Photography. So we took a bunch of my photo gear and set it up in the yard. Unfortunately, there was a light breeze and this was the result with the backdrop.
We could not get it to stay up. It was a huge sail in the wind. So we decided to move it to another location. I used a bench I recently repainted, and we pulled in the Alien Bees studio lighting to use as props. We also had a bunch of my lenses and reflector in the shot. The real trick was trying to get Ava in the shot. But eventually we nailed it.
And here are a couple of outtakes from the shoot.
Ironically the outtakes capture our personalities better than the posed ones do. It is so weird looking at our one year photo. If I could go back in time and tell that Danielle that a year from that photo, I wouldn't be working at Flagler and would be pursuing my own photography business full-time, I would call myself a liar. Crazy how much changes in a year. I am so excited to see what changes happen between this year and next year. I think this year will bring a lot of changes for Rich. He is sitting for the Bar Exam this July and we are anxious for him to pass. God is so good to us. Do you all have any projects where you are documenting the year? Let me know in the comments! In the mean time, here's a photo of the Ava Kit to brighten your day.
