Baby Haddon and Baby Isabelle

Can I just spray a little PAM down there right before the baby comes out?
— Baby Mama

That has to be my most favorite line from the movie Baby Mama. Amy Pohler's character will be me when I have a baby. I am totally awkward when it comes to newborns, but two great friends asked if I would be willing to do newborn shoots so I decided to give it a try. Dana already has 3 sweet little girls, Arden, Esther, and Chloe. They just welcomed Haddon into the world. That little boy is going to have a blast with 3 big sisters.

Catherine, as you might remember, already has Isaiah, (see cake smash session) and now she and Genesis have Isabelle. It is going to be so awesome watching these two little ones grow up. They both have amazing parents and siblings.

Photographing newborns is hard work. They need to be fed right before a shoot, they need warmth especially if they are naked. And that brings me to one of the most difficult things to deal with, peeing and pooping. Trust me, if a baby is not in a diaper, they will pee all over the place. I'm speaking from experience. It was definitely great practice working with these little ones. Maybe when I have kids of my own I'll be a little better at photographing newborns, although I don't think my first attempts were all that bad. What do you think?
