Back-To-School | St. Augustine Child Photographer
When I did photos for the graduates at Anastasia Baptist Early Education, I had the hardest time coming up with a set. As I mentioned before I was able to borrow a lot of elements from friends. I wanted to use an old school desk I had but it just wasn't the vintage look I was going for. When my Nana and Papa were still alive, they had two old wooden desks where the arm wraps around to form a table and they had some storage underneath. Of course when they passed away and we were sorting through their things, none of us had a use for them so we ended up selling them. I am a little sad about that now, but regardless, I was on the hunt for a desk that I could use for several photo shoots.
Since I didn't have my Nana's desks to use, that opened up a world of possibilities for desks I could use. I could find one that was more suited to my needs, and that would be a tad more photogenic than the other desks.Fast forward a couple of months and I found one on Craigslist. Rich and I drove out to this guys house to look at the desk and I fell in love. The guy was explaining that his wife was an interior decorator and that she used the desk for several displays. He then mentioned that she picked it up while she was in California. SOLD! You know me and my love for California! That just made this little desk so much more valuable to me.
I am so excited to be able to use this little guy in many upcoming photo shoots. With that being said, I am currently working on putting together a back-to-school mini session! Stay tuned for the details! I will be partnering with a local coffee shop that is kid friendly so that the mommas can have some coffee and relaxation while their kiddos get some photos taken! What do you think of my new desk? Have you ever done a stylized shoot? What is some advice you have for me?
