Family Friday // My Family

In an effort to blog daily during the week, I am starting up Family Friday. I am hoping to feature a new family session each Friday. To kick things off I am going to blog about my own. This weekend Rich and I are celebrating Christmas with my mom and dad. We will be spending Christmas day with Rich's family.

I have a rather small family. I am an only child and we typically did Christmas with my mom's parents, and her brother's family. This will be the first year I am away from my family at Christmas. I'm a little sad about that, but I love Rich's family. I am so blessed to have in-laws that I get along really well with. My family traditionally does turkey for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have a special Cuban Turkey secret family recipe that my mom uses. It's baller to say the least. We also have green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, and tomatoes. Yep, you read right, tomatoes. We are a very southern family. We always have a plate of raw, cut tomatoes, with salt and pepper. They are my favorite. Even though this year will be different than all the others before it I am so glad that I have Rich by my side. I know this year we will make some great memories as a newly married couple.

Pardon the Instagram pictures. I left my camera cord at home :( My parents got me this awesome Canon lens mug! It's pretty awesome. It has toggles that move just like on the real lens! I like to call it the White Whale. They got it from Photojojo. The site has a bunch of cool camera gear thats not too expensive. If you are looking for some stocking stuffers for someone, this is the site to get it from! The lens cup even came with a bag to carry it in. As you can tell we brought the Scoutster with us. She was surprisingly a good road buddy.

This is my mom. She's pretty much amazing. She made me this cookbook with all of her recipes hand written in it. When my Nana passed away, one of the things I wanted was a hand written recipe. My mom went above and beyond to put this together. It was so sweet.

Last but not least!!! (Yes, exclamation points!!!) I got an EPIPHANIE BAG!!!! AHHH. I am so excited for this bad boy! I had a good bag before, but this one is immaculate. The other bag pulled at my shoulder with all the weight. This Brooklyn Turquoise  bag is both a shoulder bag and backpack. It is super padded so I don't have to worry about anything breaking and there are plenty of pockets for CF cards, business cards, filters, batteries, flashes. Any and everything will fit in here. There is even a compartment for my 15" Macbook. If you are a photographer and need a bag, this is certainly worth the investment. It is so fashionable it even came with a cute bedazzled camera charm. I know I sound like an advertisement, but this bag really is the cream of the crop. The photos don't do it justice. You can check out the Brooklyn and other cute bags here.

So far it has been a great start to the Christmas season. What are some of the things on your wish list this year?
